{"id":1932,"date":"2015-11-05T15:00:55","date_gmt":"2015-11-05T05:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.moffat.com.au\/?p=1932"},"modified":"2015-11-05T15:40:30","modified_gmt":"2015-11-05T05:40:30","slug":"pleased-to-eat-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.moffat.com.au\/blog\/cooking\/restaurant-and-cafe\/pleased-to-eat-here\/","title":{"rendered":"Pleased to eat here"},"content":{"rendered":"[spb_text_block animation=&#8221;none&#8221; animation_delay=&#8221;0&#8243; padding_vertical=&#8221;0&#8243; padding_horizontal=&#8221;0&#8243; width=&#8221;1\/1&#8243; el_position=&#8221;first last&#8221;]\n<p><strong>What would you get if you drove a popular food truck\u00a0indoors, surrounded it with cool communal tables, and\u00a0then added a great rock and roll soundtrack?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chances are you\u2019d get something akin to Pleased to Meet You \u2013 a fun, full-of-flavour,\u00a0American-inspired diner that\u2019s recently opened in Northbridge, Western Australia.<\/p>\n<p>For Clint Nolan, chef and owner, American-inspired fare has been an ongoing passion ever\u00a0since he took a trip to Mexico and fell in love with Central America\u2019s relaxed approach to\u00a0eating and drinking.<\/p>\n<p>The new venture is the latest in a long list of Clint\u2019s family-owned successes, one that started\u00a0over a decade ago when he opened the fine-dining Harvest restaurant in Fremantle.<\/p>\n<p>After returning from Mexico he opened the Mexican Cantina La Cholita, through which he\u00a0\u201cattempted to capture the vibrancy and energy of Mexico City.\u201d He also created the popular\u00a0prohibition bar, Sneaky Tony\u2019s, which serves up more than 300 rums and requires a password\u00a0for entry on Friday and Saturday nights. A rock and roll pop-up bar,\u00a0Joe\u2019s Juice Joint, was also well received.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with Pleased to Meet You, he\u2019s providing a great new food\u00a0experience for dinner seven days a week and lunch on Fridays,\u00a0Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n<p>There is room for around 95 people in the mess-hall-style dining\u00a0room, with a focus on the serving of small plates designed to share.\u00a0The cuisine and beverages draw inspiration primarily from Central\u00a0and South America, with a few twists along the way.<\/p>\n[\/spb_text_block] [spb_image image=&#8221;1934&#8243; image_size=&#8221;full&#8221; frame=&#8221;noframe&#8221; intro_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; animation_delay=&#8221;200&#8243; fullwidth=&#8221;no&#8221; lightbox=&#8221;yes&#8221; link_target=&#8221;_self&#8221; caption_pos=&#8221;hover&#8221; width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; el_position=&#8221;first&#8221;] [spb_text_block title=&#8221;IN THE KITCHEN&#8221; animation=&#8221;none&#8221; animation_delay=&#8221;0&#8243; padding_vertical=&#8221;0&#8243; padding_horizontal=&#8221;0&#8243; width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243; el_position=&#8221;last&#8221;]\n<p>Clint Nolan has a lot of experience scoping and working with highend\u00a0kitchen equipment. \u201cThe first time I used Moffat was when I was\u00a0at Harvest, so I have been a customer for around 12 years,\u201d he says.\u00a0\u201cI have it all through the kitchens at all our venues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At Pleased to Meet You, Clint says it\u2019s their new <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moffat.com.au\/products\/washtech-gl-fully-insulated-premium-undercounter-glasswasher-dishwasher-450mm-rack\" target=\"_blank\">Washtech GL\u00a0Glasswasher<\/a><\/span> &#8211; with an RO filter system &#8211; that has been the real star\u00a0performer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe initially used a Washtech GL Glasswasher at La Cholita and it\u00a0worked very well. If you do the sums it really saves you money over\u00a0time,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the filters do require an ongoing investment, when you\u00a0consider the amount of money you previously spent on labour \u00a0on\u00a0having staff manually polish the glassware at the end of the night \u2013\u00a0well, it definitely saves your bottom line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe RO filter system is great,\u201d he adds. \u201cIt softens and cleans your\u00a0water so you don\u2019t get any streaks on your glassware and it\u2019s perfect\u00a0for our style of venue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clint\u2019s other favourite pieces of equipment are a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moffat.com.au\/products-list?f%5B0%5D=field_product_category_two%3A3930\" target=\"_blank\">Waldorf target top<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0which he uses for warming up tacos and crisping up quesadillas, and\u00a0the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moffat.com.au\/products-list?f%5B0%5D=field_product_category_two%3A8440&amp;f%5B1%5D=field_product_category_three%3A8659\" target=\"_blank\">Convotherm Mini combi-oven<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the only oven we use on site and it gets a complete workout \u2013\u00a0running 24\/7, dehydrating, roasting or being utilised during service.\u00a0Our <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moffat.com.au\/products-list?f%5B0%5D=field_product_category_three%3A8424\" target=\"_blank\">Waldorf deep fryers<\/a><\/span> and target top also get well-used,\u201d he says,\u00a0\u201cThe equipment is durable, lasts\u00a0long and is low maintenance \u2013\u00a0we love it.\u201d<\/p>\n[\/spb_text_block]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[spb_text_block animation=&#8221;none&#8221; animation_delay=&#8221;0&#8243; padding_vertical=&#8221;0&#8243; padding_horizontal=&#8221;0&#8243; width=&#8221;1\/1&#8243; el_position=&#8221;first last&#8221;] What would you get if you drove a popular food truck\u00a0indoors, surrounded it with cool communal tables, and\u00a0then added a great rock and roll soundtrack?
